Mine thumps when I move the lever from neutral into a gear. Although never really loud, it is most noticable when I shift into reverse or first. However, if I listen carefully, I can hear it in other gears, too. My car's still under warranty, so I took it in a couple of months ago. The dealer told me it's normal driveline slack. It's been almost 3500 miles since then, and, while the noise is still there, it hasn't changed in volume or frequency. I've grown used to it. Maybe the dealer is right in this instance.

If you find out more, let us know.
