reset service indicator lights (archive)

Guys...
I have tried to reset the service indicators with no results.
I have created a plug with a ground clip and a plug end. I have turned the ignition to position #2 (I think this is where the dash lights are on, but without starting the engine.)
Plugged the end into #7 input.
Connected groung wire.
Waited 11-15 seconds...
And nothing!
What am I doing wrong?
Help??
