that Ferrari and Porche owners probably just laugh at.

Anyway, a 'driving machine' is really just how everything works well together, doesn't really imply it's a fast car.

I have my complaints about BMW's but they do put nice packages together, whether 4,6 or 8 banger. Even back when my car was totally stock I had a good time with it. The balance of all the components, yet still cushy ride was impressive.

Not wanting to start a flame war or anything, but to be the "Ultimate Driving Machine", i.e. a pure driver's car, I do not believe an E36 can be either a four cylinder or an automatic, or God forbid both! What are your thoughts?
