Wheel offset? (archive)

I have aquired a set of 16"vovlo alloys with nice tires. I think the offset on the wheels are 43, would they fit on my 92 325i. I think the offset is 47. I know your not suppose to interchange fwd and rwd drive wheels, but arent they close enough. Thanks.
