I am getting a new air intake for my 97 318is.... but I was wondering if a heat shield will make a difference? I know the dinan one, and most others come without a heat shield, yet a couple systems come with a fully enclosed heat shield.... does this help at all? and will it even make a difference??


I would suggest the heat shield. I got mine with the K&N filter from ECSIBMW. Looks good and does help prevent heat intake. There is also a cover which sits on top of the heatshield and K&N and gives it a nice finished look
