Over the summer I:

replaced alternator, belts
replaced rear shock mounts, new shocks, one broken spring - replaced both.
one abs wheel sensor
a/c was shot: new condensor, compressor, exp valve, dryer, microfilter, tensioner pulley.

then, just the usual - air filter, o2 sensor, switch to mobil1, amsoil dif & tranny.

I was lucky not to have to rely on a $tealer. Did some work myself, had a good mechanic for the rest. Bought most of my parts at zygmunt & bavautosport. Cost me about 2K total out of pocket.

I have a 93 318is. I heard the profile gasket should be replaced. Should i worry about anything else. Its getting close to 100,000 miles.
