: I'm only 18 years old and I have had my 97' 328i for only about a year now. I love my car more than anything until I heard about the 340 or so horsepowered M3. I still live at home so no bills to pay. Do you think I should bust my ass for a year or two working and sell my car to buy the new M3. Insurance will go up and tires may be a problem too, but it beats wondering if my engine is going to blow by putting a turbo or supercharger on mine, wouldn't you agree?
: Well, does anyone think it's worth it.

This is not meant to flame you. You ask for advice, I'm giving it to you straight. Before you get the E46 M3, I suggest you attend some high-performance driving school with the intend of NOT learning how fast you can go, but rather how to control a beastly 350hp. The very thought that you want a 350hp M3 tells me that you do feel your current car does not give you the performance that you like. In truth Mo, your car has more performance than you think. Take my advice, join a driving school and it will open your eyes as to what your car can really do. The opening lesson in driving school is for you to sit on the passenger side with the instructor driving your car. Believe me it will open your eyes to the car control ability these guys have. I found generally, the younger the student, the more the instructor pushes the car to make a statement how you can reach a level with the car and never cross the limit and get crossed up. You will learn a lot and come out with great respect for your car. You're a lucky kid to have a BMW. Don't start chasing the latest and the greatest. Besides a beastly 350hp M3 could get you in trouble real fast. Better learn the skill required to control a beastly 350 hp car. Because you don't want to tread over that limit and sometimes its fatal.
