It would definitely be the better choice in my mind to go ahead and sell your 328i and buy the M3 instead. Supercharging systems, exhaust systems, chips...all those cost so much that a factory-made (and thus more reliable) M3 would be the more logical choice, both for future resale value and driving enjoyment. You would likely not have any problems with the M3, while a blown 328i would have many. Also, the mods you would make would not be recovered in the resale value at ANY point in the future. Go for the M3.
