How does SMG compare to Ferrari F1? (archive)

Does anyone have any information on how BMW's SMG transmission compares to the F1 transmission that Ferrari has been offering in recent models? The Ferrari Web site has very detailed descriptions of the various modes of operation of their gearbox, but all I could find on BMW's site was vague marketing-speak.
