Yes, I have a trailer hitch ( made by DA Lan, Shirley MA part # 247258 ) on a '96 e36 with an attachable bicycle rack. 2000lb trailer weight, 200lb tongue weight. $200 with $115 labor by dealer. Attaches to bumper mount and the spare wheel well with about 16 bolts.

: Is it possible to install a trailer hitch on the current M3 and do you think it will be possible to install a hitch on the soon to be released M3? No, I don't want to tow a boat. But I do have a mountain bike/ski rack that attaches to a hitch and wanted to know if it could be used with the new M3. It would be a shame to put a roof rack on one of these cars.
