My best friend and I went to Momentum the weekend after the E46 M3 premiered at the Frankfurt auto show (weeks ago) and placed $1000 deposits to get on the "waiting list" there. After several conversations with the salesman and the sales manager, we were finally told we were "about 11th and 12th" on a "list" that they claimed to have.
The salesman then went on to tell us about how the owner of Momentum attempted to bump the person that was "Number 1" on the new M5 list just so he could have the first vehicle (which seems to be an acceptable practice at Momentum since it is privately owned). They also said that this is a possibility with the new M3 and therefore your position on this "list" is not necessarily your position in the E46 M3 allocation for Momentum. Of course, the M5 story is second-hand info and I cannot vouch for its accuracy.
After the experience of dealing with these guys, we took our business to Intercontinental BMW where we saw our names placed on the ordering list and only needed a $500 deposit. Plus there will be no monkey business with the allocation because Intercontinental BMW is not privately held.
Still, Mr. Big I hope your "special C" pays off and you truly will be #1 at Momentum. But I seriously doubt it.
