What happened to Jon Shafer? (archive)

I had a major hard drive crash about 2.5 weeks ago and have been unable to access this site until the other night. I realized that there hasn't been anything from Jon Shafer in weeks. I also noticed there are no longer any Cutter banner ads, either. Did I miss something? Did he quit his job, too, or did he decide that frequenting this board wasn't a good investment of his time? A shame in any case.
