BMW claims that it does not use ANY body panels between the 2000 323i (sedan) and 323Ci--not even the hood, front fenders, etc. There is no reason why they could not of used the 323i front clip (fenders, hood, grill, etc.) for the coupe (most manufactures use the same front clip), but they chose not to. It would not surprise me to see them do the same thing on the M3, since it has wider fender flares, etc.
: It would be way to expensive to produce all different forms of similar car. Look at ford Ls jag plus many more to share SAME PLATFORM. BMW does not have the recourses to make 5 or 6 ALL new car the same size and in the same market segment -- it is just not logical! However, I think it WILL have some neat features such as hood fender air intakes, but nothing that is not ALREADY feasible in a Ci.
