YAAAY... another victim of the overpriced (archive)

: Just talked to my local dealer today, and he just
: got back from some sort of conference down in south
: carolina. He talked to the M products USA rep
: about the next generation m3 and this is what he
: found out:

: The engine will not be a 3.4 liter but will remain
: 3.2 liters, but will put out 340 horsepower.

: The new engine will be in the M coupe and M
: roadster, but because their chassis' can't handle
: as much power, they will be limited to 320 horses.

: The upgraded coupe and roadster will come out in
: six months to a year; possibly before the new M3.
: My dealer said they showed him the new engine
: already mounted in the roadster; the rep claimed
: they could start production tomorrow if they needed
: to, they just haven't worked out how they want to
: bring them out(anyone notice the mcoupe and
: roadster have rebates now?)

: He did not get any kind of firm pricing info.

: New M3 will share only two body parts with the 328
: and 323 coupes; the door handles and the trunklid.

: The rep told the dealer he could expect more m5's
: than m3's, at least for the first year, probably
: because the m5 shares many parts with the regular
: 5-series while the m3 is (apparently) an entirely
: new car.

: I'm putting a deposit down tomorrow; my dealer
: doesn't mark cars up over sticker-ever.(they also
: sell hondas and sold their entire allotment of
: s2000's for sticker)
