E46 M3 modifications (archive)

So, given the hypothetical situation that the E46 M3 is 3.2L, 340hp... can anybody give me a rough guess of what increase in HP might be acheived with $2000-$3000 worth of mods? To me it seems pretty unlikely that a bunch of after-market hacks could improve the performance of something that's been tuned by M... but I'm very new to this sort of thing
