The same situation occured on the Audi chat sites regarding the S4, with some people concerned about the impact on the price. The price ended up being at the LOW end of the range of "anticipated pricing" and the car is a genuine value. Not saying this will happen with the M3, but we can hope.........
BMW has to look at not just the initial demand but how the price will affect the car's marketability 3 and 4 years down the road. What some people will be willing to pay to be the first kid on the block to have one isn't necessarily the price the car will support when big dealers have three or four on the ground waiting for buyers. Now, if they restrict the number of cars per year to 2,000 or so, as some have speculated, then all bets are off!
