is not in or on any production BMW exterior or interior. Carbon fiber is made from fibers woven together and molded. It is extremely strong and extremely light. It is used in Bicycle frames and wheels in some expensive bikes. It's also used in external fixation devices for injuries, like the "Halo" that gets screwed onto a person's head if they break their neck. It's light so the person doesn't have to carry that weight. It is also used by aftermarket automobile tuners, often as body panels (i.e. ground effects, airdams, wings) to provide better aerodynamics while reducing weight at the same time. Carbon fiber has a distinct look to it and plain plastic parts can be made to look like it for cosmetic reasons. Here is an example of what carbon fiber would look like.
