Not to sound like an old fart. But a lot of us has been BMW enthusiasts from the 2002 series and watched BMW deviate away from that sector into more luxurious model regardless of whether its a sedan or coupe. I myself will not consider a coupe because if I wanted it purely for tracking and performance, I rather get a Porche which is more akin to a puriest car. Being part of the baby boomers, I would consider the M3-4 for its sports sedan heritage and the practicality of a 4 door.
It will be a pity if BMW decides against a 4door. They will forfeit a sector with a lot of demands.
