Since BMW did not drop the M3/4 due to it being a mistake, it wouldn't surprise me to see an M3/4 down the line a couple years. I also want to retract my statement about it taking just as long to develop each model of M3 as the initial coupe. I forgot that the engine would already be finished and tuned by the time they get to the sedan and convertible. All they would have to do is add some reinforcements to the convertible and adjust spring rates for each of those two models to account for the weight distribution/magnitude differences. I'm sure there's a bunch more to it, but for the most part the engine tuning is the most difficult part. If they really squeeze 340 hp out of a straight 6, it probably took some finegalling (sp?), especially if it is a 3.2L (a rumore that I personally don't buy).
