Have you tried telling hem, "Gee every other dealer in the USA has waiting lists for the new M3... Are you guys sure you know what you are doing?"
Also, maybe have a bunch of different freinds call them up and inquire about a list - maybe over the period of a week. If they get a ton of calls, maybe one of their seemingly tack sharp salesmen will come up with the idea: "HEY we need to make a list!!!!" =)
