I Live in the Utica area (insert joke here) and put my 99 M3 in the garage for the winter. I have a 91 caprice as a winter beater. But.....I met a guy at the grocery store with an estoril 98 M3 and he drives it year round. I don't know if you know this area at all, but we got hills here. Big ones. Anyway, this guy bought four snows and wheels from tirerack (16" are the best) and says he has no problems at all. He also said that the only reason he drives it in the winter is because it is leased and he is not overly concerned with long-term salt/pot hole damage. But he, along with some other BMW owners in the area, say that IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A RWD CAR IN THE SNOW, then you shouldn't have a problem.

So buy away my friend and come into the light...
