Refer me to test showing 5.0 0-60 for E36 Euro M3 (archive)

: Ok.. hmmm. The Euro M3 does 0-60 in 5 secs flat and is quite a bit faster than the US car. Also the new M3 is gonna have much more rubber in the rear than the current E36.. so that is not a factor (especially being that forced inducted E36's can run under 5 seconds with stock rubber). I think it will be entirely possible for the new M3 to break the 5 second mark. 6 speed, more HP than the Euro car, and nearly the same weight. Totally plausible.

Although I agree with you final conclusion that the new M3 may indeed break the 5 sec barrier I have never seen a test in any German or Brit Car mag indicating that the E36 model would do 0-60 in 5.0s. Most had it about 5.5 in 0-60 and 5.6+ in 0-100kph (or 0-62mph). One of the main reasons I think it may break the 5.0s 0-60 will be increased width rear tires ... what were they on the show car 275 or 295s ... dont remember but they were significantly wider than the E36 models 245s.
