Why am I doing all this work? I suppose the answer Must be because I am car crazy and I try to justify my choices to myself and others. What has this all got to do with BMW? I happen to be a BMW fan so I look in here from time to time. When the NSX vs M3 debate came up, (I did not start that) I just wanted to pitch in with my 2 cents. Some people responded and they did not seem to understand precisely where I was coming from so I have clarified this issue, here on the BMW board. I hope you fellow BMW fans are ok with that. I am sure everyone agrees BMW has made some fantastic cars...
Just for the record, I live in Europe and there is no Acura here, only Honda. I am not sure of the exact status of the marketplace for cars like the Type-R. What I do know however is that when the First shipment of Honda Integra Type-R's arrived in Germany all the car's, 1000 where sold out with orders taken for an additional 500 in the first day. That's right, all 1000 sold and orders for 500 more in 1 day. I suppose this just goes to show that in Germany tastes in cars are different than in the US. From what I hear US dealers feel they can shift around 1000 Integra Type-R's during a whole year in te entire United States. Of course everyone knows the car buying population is much bigger in the US than in Germany. The conclusion is that most US buyers don't seem to appreciate cars like the Type-R.
You seriously doubt I will have much luck convincing people on this board that the Type-R is a better car for them. There seems to be a slight misunderstanding here. What I was trying to achieve was to explain why the Type-R is a better car for me and people with the same taste in cars I have. I SINCERELY BELIEVE THAT THE M3 IS A FAR BETTER CAR FOR MOST PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD THAN THE TYPE-R.The M3 is faster, quieter, more comfortable, much better for highway driving than the Type-R.
