: Ok, Honda makes 2 rwd cars. It was 1 up till 4mths ago. 98% of all BMWs RWD. BMW knows more than most about the total driving experience and not just pure speed. It's in the motto.
Why does Honda hide behind the Acura name in the US?
Car magazine, November 1997 page 34: "...a truly UNCOMPROMIZED DRIVING EXERIENCE." How can this be with the fwd setup??
Car magazine, December 1996, page 41.
I read the quote. What where the lap times?? S4 also "Beat" M3 but M3's lap time where faster by a full second a lap!

"But in absolute competence, the M3 just can't compete." I know you did not write this
but what cars have a better race heritage than BMW Motorsport. Some do Ferrari, Porsche but not Honda! Did you drive the M3 LTW. This is the bare bones version of the E36 M3, the car you seem to be searching for minus the price. But it takes some money to engineer a competitive in this day and time. Is the M3 truly incompetent and cars like the
Subaru Impreza Turbo, Jaguar XK8, Nissan Primera Sri (Infinite G20 in US), Mercedes Benz E36 AMG, etc truly competent and more able to compete than the
M3?!?? I think not!

I all ready said I have respect for the ITR but you seem not to have enough respect for the M3. I say this because of some of the quotes that you picked out to post(look above) that insult the M3 unfairly. I have respect for many car manufactures I don't believe blindly in the M3 prowess but I have seen enough races(IMSA series, Motorola Cup, USRRC, SCCA,) first hand to understand that the M3 is a phenomenal all around performer!
You also seem to pationize the M3-"The M3
is faster, quieter, more comfortable, much better for highway driving than the Type-R." DON'T! The M3 and it's accomplishments stand on it's own!

'nuff for now
