Hello, everyone,
My name is Chien, Stanley. I had a very bad experience with Peter Pan BMW dealer today (01/02/00). I put down my deposit for a '00 540ia three months ago for ordering the car and I negotiated the price of 55K for the car with options I want(Invoice was about 52K and MSRP was about 58K) with an internet sales manager called Sergei. I have been waiting for more than 3 months now and today they changed their mind. They want to charge me 1K more by telling me that they said that they miscalculated the MSRP for the car. (I remember the sales even put everything on computer for 55k and show me the after tax price) However, when we were negotiating the car, I only talked about how much I'm willing to pay and ask them if they accept the deal or not. We only had an oral agreement because I trusted the BMW dealers and believed in heart that honesty is the fundamental of doing business. Now, they changed their mind and I really have no idea why should I pay for the so-called mistake they made. Can I do anything about it? (I haven't get the deposit back yet. Does it have any legal binding that the car is order by me so that they can't sell it to anyone else?) I am so disappointed (I really like the car) but I know I will not put extra cash to make dealers to do that to other customers again. I remember there is someone on the board who had similar situation for a M5 ( can you help me?????? Plz). Can anyone of you give me some advice? i.e who should I complain to, where should I email, ¡Ketc. Any help is very very appreciated. If possible, please email me since I don¡¦t want anyone in Peter Pan to see what may be the solution.
Again, thanks a lot for your help.
Please email me at hchien@stanford.edu.
