Thanks Glug, you have understood precisely where I am coming from. I am very happy to have gotten through to someone.

For me, power and speed are not everything. My first car was a 1995 Peugot 106 Rallye. This car has never been available in the US. It had a 100 horsepower engine and a curb weight of only 1764 pounds. (1.3 l engine with a race cam. No torque to speak of). It was great fun to drive, though not very fast in absolute terms, 0-60 in just under 10 seconds. I was unlucky enough to crash that car and my second was a Honda Civic VTI with the 160 hp 1.6 l engine. I never really liked it. It was much faster than the Peugot, but compared to the Peugot it was heavy and the suspension sucked. Now, I have the Integra and it is a great leap forward from the Civic, but in some respects it has a hard time competing with the Peugot. I think it is because of the extra weight. Driving the Peugot was also a very direct experience, since it did not even have power steering.
