As a lot of people below have pointed out, the M5 is entirely a different car than the M3. They don't compete, even if they had the same 0-60 times. The M5 is first and foremost a 5-series: its bigger, more luxourious, and has better quality that 3-series cars. Look at the 328 and 528, they have identical drivetrains. The 328 has a quicker 0-60 yet MSRPs at $4910 less than the 528. Just goes to prove, they're different cars for different markets. I don't understand why people are continually using 0-60 times as the sole discriminator between the M5 and M3, the M3 and other cars, and even the E36 M3 and the E46 M3. The M3 has always been about the sum of its parts, not just one thing.
How fast will the new M3 go? As fast as they can get it with the existing Euro motor. Without a doubt it will have to beat the old Euro time which was I think was around 5.2-5.3s
