: : Hello All,

: : Just back from a visit with my dealer and I got some info. For starters, the owner of the dealership was in N.C. and saw the interior of the M3 and (third hand info) reported that it was more or less like the interior of the regular three series but had two tone seats. Just more rumor to throw on the fire.

: : More troublesome though was info about how the X5 was delivered. The dealer was telling me that he had a waitlist for the X5 but instead of BMW calling and letting them preorder the cars they wanted the first two allocations of X5's BMW arbitrarily fitted with options and sent them out so many of the people on the list have to wait until March to get the custon cars they want and yet there are already X5's being sold and driven! I really hope they don't do this with the M3. I think that this type of sales tactic alienates your most loyal customers.

: : Well those are my ravings for the day, take them for what they are worth. Take care.

: 1. I was also told about the 2 tone seats, a suede and leather combo, 2nd hand info from the sales manager who saw the inside; no sure thing they will go with this though come Sept.

: 2. I was concerned something like this would occur re: the first shiploads, when my salesperson asked what color I wanted because "BMW just wanted to get an idea of customers color preference" for the e46m3. But I was also told I would be invited in this July or so to preorder.

: Never too early for public pressure. I would think there would be those in the know here to advise on the proper channels for advocating, given they are holding our $$$.

: Thanks for the heads-up.

if Bennett's info gets verified maybe we can consider preparing a brief form letter and post it online. someone could draft it with the proper address and name of the proper person at BMW. Those of us that have deposits could download the draft form letter, modify it as necessary, and send it off to BMW. as people show up on this board saying they put a deposit down, we could suggest they do the same.

experienced folks, please advise.
