It could also be for the Park Distance Control. If you look at the back bumper I believe it has 3 of these circles. No other explanation I can think of.

: 1) What's that "circle" shaped groove next to the BMW M3 License Plate on the front bumper?

: 2) Also, you guys think that headlight washers are going to be offered in the US for the M3 model?

: 3) Have you noticed that the hood, besides having that "dome" bulge, it is also shaped more aggressively or sharply (like a triangle), compared to the 328/323 which look having almost parallel edges...
