: could be cheaper than E36 but not just for wishful thinking. BMW is increasing its market share, it set up a new much more efficient production facility for the 3 series and I am still assuming that Motorsports expenses (the new M3 engine) are charged to marketing, not to R&D.
What makes you think BMW reads the blather on this board? By all means, convince them to charge much less. MSRP base of E36M3 was officially $39,700 until factory shut down in April 1999. A healthy 10% (more than 7X all other model increases in the past three years) would be $43,670.
That is not my prediction, just MY wishful thinking for a Sunday night.
