Aw, shuckins, I'd still rather have my 354 HP/ 310 ft lb Supercharged '99 E36 M3 than all of 'em. I much prefer the appearance of the E36, plus the lighter weight, and crisper handling...Remember, in all tests so far, the E46 has fallen behind their E36 counterparts in driver feel and handling, and general 'edginess'. So, if you can retain all that, plus get more power than the E46 as well, well, that would be the best of all worlds....And, as far as price comparisons go, I analyzed it before I made the decision, and the Supercharger on E36 comes out ahead. For those of you who decide that $55K is too much to spend, the option I chose is a whole lot better than 'second best'..
Yes, but wouldn't you say that an E36 M3 has a different feeling than an E36 328 coupe? So my point is that with no one really having driven the E46 M3, how can you know how it will feel? True, though, that BMW has a trend going of moving toward marketing rather than "true" M spirit.
