Does this mean that the "official" designation for the new 3-series cars with the 3 liter engine is "330"? (I know we've been using "330" for awhile, but it was never official.)

: I just returned from my trusty SD BMW dealer to get some parts. I visited my friend in sales there and he showed me an "official"-looking memo from BMW NA concerning a long list of the dates for start of production for all upcoming models. The interesting ones (i.e., the ones I focused on) were:

: Sept '00 M3 coupe
: November '00 M3 convertible
: July '00 330 (coupe, sedan)
: Sept '00 M coupe and roadster (new engine)
: July '00 X5 3.0

: There was no listing for an "M3 touring" or sedan through CY 2001. No 3 compact either.

: The dealership had seven M3's ('97 and '98) on the CPO lot recently turned in from leases.

: It was very reassuring and even fun to see these items in "black and white" on BMW stationery rather than just in ether on the 'net.
