: Are you sure BMW wont include tiptronic (or gear shiting from the steering wheel like ferrari/porsche have) ?

First of all, search the archives for the threads about SMG/F1 vs steptronic/tiptronic/etc. Bottom line is the SMG and F1 are true manual trannys, while the steptronic/tiptronic are true automatics. Don't put the F1 and the tip in the same category they are UNRELATED except they appear to act the same ON THE SURFACE ONLY.

: First year production is always the least equipped compared to future years, and thats a FACT.

Granted BMW does make optional features standard and adds new optional features, but look at the E36 M3, except for an engine change and minor body work changes there were NO significant changes thru it's production cycle. AND the early 95 M3s are the most desirable to the enthusiast PLUS those were the only M3s that came fromt eh factory with a tilt wheel.

Things change about 3-6months even after release! The earlier you get it, the more you could miss by not waiting a little while longer. Think about it, who knows why BMW could offer 6-12months after its initial release. Considering Audi and MB will be hard at work bringing out their own cars, BMW could have something in the works for that too.

Believe me, BMW has done thier homework with regards to other manufacturers. It is their job. They will not be caught off gaurd with some other manufacturer coming out with a 600hp, $30k car.

If you dont believe this, look at the E46 328/323. After first year, (more like 8month) production, 328 will get new 3.0L engine, and 323 becomes the 325 and slightly more equipped.

Oh really? You know that the 2.5L is going to be more equipped?

Waiting also means the mad rush to get a car is gone, and you have time to choose ur car options wisely, aswell as get a better deal. Im not saying wait SO LONG that the E56 M3 comes out,

ROFLMAO, I haven't even heard the E number for teh next 3 series. E30 to E36 to E46 to E56? Hmmm.

:but give it reasonable time AFTER release to check it out more closely, a 10month to a 1yr wait is the best way to go about it. Who know's maybe you will be rewarded with a V8 engine in ur M3!! (BMW like any company has secrets, they wont tell you even if they are planning it. So unless you work for the BMW engineering department, your opinions about V8's unlikeliness is baseless. We just dont know.)

There will NOT be a V8. Rick Key has different hunches, but my reporting is based on facts.

: Being the first in line, isnt always the most enviable positions. My E46 m3 will be here long after the bad ones are weeded out :)

But being first in line can make you some money.

Sounds to me like you are trying to move up in line.
