C5 vs M3 (archive)

I am considering a new sports car and am considering either a new M3 or a new C5 vette. The corvette of course has 345 hp, 6-speed trans, traction control+active handling, better acceleration and higher top speed and will most likely cost less than M3. On the other hand the M3 will probably be more refined, possibly more fuel efficient, and quieter(C5 is a bit loud inside) but more expensive. As I am on a slight budget the closer to 50k the M3 gets the less likely that I will get one. In all your opinions what are the pros and cons of each one.
