This was posted on the 'Driven' website on 18th Feb. regarding Geneva Motor Show -

The new BMW M3: it has a new straight-six cylinder, 343 bhp engine, a six-speed manual gearbox, and an M variable differential lock. It looks distinctive, with power domes on the bonnet and large air ducts in the front spoiler.

No mention of engine size though.
