When I first went looking for a E46 328, I started at Bellevue BMW and was very put off by their lack of attention, concern and indifference towards me as a customer.
When I went to Seattle BMW, the experience was totally different. The salesperson I had, Ron Tremmel, was attentive, but non-pushy. His background was in Service so he understood the technologies of the cars much more than a 'professional' salesperson. My buying experience from Seattle was top notch.
I bought my second car from them as well, my current 540i 6sp. So far I've recommended Seattle to 5 friends who've bought their cars there as well and all have reported excellent service and experiences.
Steve Norman, while I've never had to deal with him on a problem like you experienced, has gone out of his way to help host events for the local BMW club www.bmwaca.org, by subsidising events (we had a luxury booth at Emerald Downs,) he's donated a ton of stuff for our auction to raise money for Children's hospital and the club, and he managed to get the latest James Bond movie a few weeks before it opened and gave a special sneak preview for his customers, including food, drinks, etc..
Seattle BMW's service department has always been good to me, and always had a BMW loaner car available for whenever I brought my car in. I deal mostly with Kevin York, but all of the Service Advisiors have been a pleasure to work with.
I'm not discounting your experience, but my experiences have been totally different.
