Yes, the fact that the E46 M3 doesn't have a spare tire might be a shortcoming but, as far as I'm concerned, that seems to be the only one the new M3 has. The price is certainly justifiable. Porsche 996 performance (most of it, at least) for $20000 less with a very useable backseat and trunk. I think my $50k would be well spent on an E46 M3.

As far as calling the E46 M3 engine unsophisticated, I think that is total bullshit. Any engine that puts out over 100 bhp/liter with no forced induction is going to be ONE OF THE MOST SOPHISTICATED engines in the world. Think about the other engines that can claim this. Honda S2000 and Ferrari F355/F360 Modena...definitely exclusive company. Get real, the E46 M3 engine may be a derivative of the E36 M3 "euro" engine, but it's not like that engine wasn't way ahead of its time anyway. I'm tired of people nit-picking a car that looks to be AMAZING just for the sake of nit-picking it. Can all you doubters just not afford it? sorry...low blow...you have to justify keeping your E36 M3s in some way or another.

When I said not sophisticated I meant that the new M3 engine is nothing NEW. It's pretty much the same engine as the old euro M3. Yes, the euro 3.2L M3 engine is very good piece of engineering but still an old engine !...
: I am an enthuisiast believe it or not (I drive BMW since I have a driver license..now over 14 years) ! I love almost every single piece of my current BMW and I wish I could own (or at least drive) certain BMWs I know I can't have.

Do you really know what type of engineering development needs to go into an engine to have over 100hp/L? Its like those who ask "Why do you need a car with 500hp?" If you have to ask, then you?ll never understand. So enjoy your 330 it will make a fine "sporty" sedan.
