The following disclaimer is taken from the BMW.com's M3 site under Technology/Data Sheet and it refers to the engine and other technical specifications:

"The technical data given refers to the German version. Due to certain legal regulations in different countries, deviations in the technical data described here can occur."

Sounds to me like the rumors in previous posts about a US Spec'd engine are true. Once again, the US consumer will get screwed - by our own regulatory agencies!!! Maybe I'll have to start learning to speak German.
