But the M3 is nearly as quick or as quick as the E39 M5 which easily beats the 996 in every category. Go to the M5 board to see how they're dusting off 996 2 and 4s all day long. Go to Motor Trend last month, if you don't believe me. And lastly, don't look at the price of the car to judge the guy's worth. There is a guy Roland over on the M5 board that owns a software development company, and he has owned every exotic car there is. Diablo, F40, you name it. He's in his 20's and guess what one of his favourite cars is? The Evo M3 3.2 which is essentially an earlier version of the E46 M3 3.25.
If your Porsche dealer is telling you the 996 C4 is the best thing, believe him if it makes you feel good, when it comes down to it though, the new M3 will dust the 996 C4 in every category, track, strip and luxury (unless you like cheap plastic). And on one last note, why are you poor-boying it and getting a 996 C4, if your serious about cars and you have dough, why not the 996 Bi-Turbo?
