: Do you know what will come as standard equipment on the new US M3 that was optional on the E36 M3?

: I'm trying to make some sense out of the $45K Base MSRP and the $51K "totally loaded" MSRP. That's only $6K for all the options including a NAV System!

: The E36 M3 had over $6K of options available not including a NAV System! Isn't the NAV about $2K? If so, that means there is now only $4K of options (not including the NAV) available for the new M3. If this is correct, there is no doubt that some of the previous model's options must now be standard equipment; but which ones?

: I'll list the E36 M3 available option list along with MSRP prices so you can advise which options are now standard on the new M3:

: #540 Cruise Control $540.
: #674 Premium Sound System $975.
: #325 Rear Wing Type Spoiler $650.
: #554 On-Board Computer $500.
: #494 Heated Front Seats $500.
: #458 8-Way Power Seats $945.
: #401 Power 2-Way Sunroof $950.
: #783 Optional Wheels $1,450. ? Metallic Paint ?
: _______
: Total $6,510.

: Thanks,

my 00 328i had the trip computer, power seat, and cruise control as standard.

Options (which I did not get) included rear seat air bags, park distance control, automatic nighttime dimming mirror, fold down rear seat for golf clubs or skis, rain sensitive automatic wipers, wood paneling, and automatic lumbar adjustment.

the bmw home page hints that the power seat will be std. It has been rumored that xenons will be std. If the cloth seat in Roup's picture costs less than leather, it probably will be std. So, big ticket options ($1000+) may be nav, leather, and the sunroof. 2nd level of options would include metallic $500?, heated seat (mandatory for us geezers $500?, alarm $500? lock lugnuts $100?
If xenons are an option, add $500. Also, fancy stereo was quite a bit more. In the 328i with regular stereo, cassette was std. and INSTEAD of cassette, one could order dash mounted compact disc as option.
