I think the idea of having your new sports car out running the streets is a great promotion. Folks spotting one and rummors start flying around, promotional phots taken in all sorts of spots that many fans will recognize for regional advertising campaigns. The internet chat rooms debating if anybody really saw one or not. The new colors get introducted a little at a time. The encounters managed to keep building with more "public" spottings occuring as the release date gets closer. Then a tie in of TV and print with public appearences at dealers and BMW CCA events.
