I looked at the CLK430 last year. I was comparing it to and potentially replacing my E36 M3. Needless to say I was underwhelmed by the CLK. It's really more of a luxury car with decent power and big wheels and tires. It's like a Lexus GS400, but slower. It's a nice looking car, does fine in straight line and has good brakes. I found it boring to drive (exactly like the GS400). Then consider it's $53k price tag and 9 month wait (at the time) and it was NO BRAINER to keep my E36 M3 and wait for the E46 M3.
