: BMW says the new M3 will be 0-60 in 5.2 which is about the same as the M Coupe. I'd imagine with 330+ HP the American M3 model will rip the M Coupe compared to 240 HP for the M Coupe. Also, even though the new m3 has like 330ish hp, its torque isn't that much more than the old m3 or the m coupe. Any ideas, opinions, comments?

Origianlly BMW quoted the M roadster as 0-60 in 5.5 or 5.6. If the rooadster wasn't intorduced first, I would bet the M coupe would have been listed as 0-60 in 5.5. BMW quotes on 0-60 times of new models is always conservative (usually 0.4-0.5 seconds which means the E46 M3 will do 0-60 in around 4.8.

OTOH, the M coupe gets the same engine so the M coupe should still be faster than the M3.
