Hi,
On the 323Ci Cabriolet, the steering wheel is not as thick, and the lower spoke is double, as opposed to single w/ the ///M logo. As well, the ///M has double grips on either side with a thicker diamiter. And finally, the stiching on the ///M is red/dark blue/blue. But otherwise, you are right, it is in fact the 2001 sport wheel design.

: Today I was helping a friend purchase a Z3 and while I was there I sat in a new 323 convertible and this car had the exact same steering wheel as shown on the M3 show car. This may be old news but touching this little piece of the M3 kind of got me excited about my car!!! Anyhow, I was happy to find out that the buttons on the steering wheel had a solid feel to them because I felt like they looked potentially cheap-esque in the picture. Well that's all.
