Not a flame, but...

Most car magazines (I know, not the best source of information all the time) list the M roadster times as 5.3-5.4 and 13.8-13.9, trap speed of ~102 respectively. The S2000 got a 0-60 of 6.2 by R&T and a 1/4 of 14.8, trap speed of 97.5, although the numbers have ranged from around 14.2 to 15.1. If you look at it this way as you suggested, you get 60-102 of 8.5 secs for the M roadster vs. 60-97.5 of 8.6 secs for the S2000. That means that by the time the M roadster hits the 14.8 second mark, it's doing at least 110, which means it's pulling ahead of the S200 at a rate of 18 ft/sec. If you compare the 0-100 times of the two cars they are 13.6 and 15.6 respectively for the M and the S2000--big difference.

But that wasnt exactly illustrative of what I was trying to say. Imagine you pull up to the S2000 in your M roadster while running errands and you both gun it. Unless he's keeping it in a low gear with the revs >7000 for daily driving, he's gonna be making about as much power as a Dodge Neon. That means you're gonna run away from him like he's parked. Even though the difference in acceleration will decrease as the race goes on, he'll never make up the loss. Sorry, but I dont have 30-50 and 50-70 times to back up my argument, but if I could find them, I'm sure they would show what I'm trying to say.

No flames intended here...

Mark G
