The viper is smokin fast but its a shitty car if you look at build and quality (and yes I have driven one). Its a kit car from the factory with a HUGE engine, but it will also beat just about any car you'll ever see on the road. For 75k, its not worth it to me. Assume the E46 will cost about 50-55k, so for the price of a viper you could drop in a stage II turbo for about 20k (with all the trimmings...) now you have a car that will be faster, better quality, and have BMW's exceptional fit and finish. The good thing about a turbo is you only need to run at 3psi for the drive to work and such, but flip a switch and youve now got 12-15psi on tap. Really how often do you "need" to put 400+ hp to the ground. I would rather have the quality of a BMW than the kit car appeal of a viper. I love the way the car looks but its quality sucks. As for the 911, well a 911 is a 911. the M3 should be as fast if not faster and handle as well for 20k less. But a 911 is not the best daily driver. For me I can only afford one car out of college and its going to be the E46 M3. If you already have a daily driver then a viper or 911 would both be a great toy car to have around. my .02
