Yes, but....(more on the acceleration bit) (archive)

I don't know if I beleive that this car
will actually do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. I know
that BMW is usually conservative in their
figures, but from memory I think the Z8 weighs
around 3500 pounds and has a V8. I don't
see how dropping 100 pounds is going to make
up for the loss of two cylinders in terms
of acceleration! Obviously we are all
speculating right now, but I don't think
I buy that this car will be any faster than
5.2 to 60mph, in which case the difference
is something like a quarter or third of
a second. From what I've read, most of the
extra oopmh is being added to the top end.
Maybe they will just gear it insanely, but
then you get into the whole "revving it like
a vtech argument...(elch)"
