I wouldn't put the Supra in the same class as the NSX, or the Skyline. I'd rank the RX-7 with the supra, but would much rather have the RX-7 due to its low center of mass, and light weight.
As for you point that the supra is the king of japan. All the other japanese supercars post specs similar to and better than the supra(I'm talking stock, not 30psi boost, nitro injected, etc. etc.), and the others are arguably more refined. I would equate the supra to the american muscle cars when compared to the NSX, or Skyline. My personal favorite is the NSX, but who wouldn't want an AWD supercar like the Skyline.
In conclusion, the supra doesn't appeal to many people, and the people who do drive supras are not the type I want to be associated with. Sure I have a stereotype of the supra, I think its the Japanese camaro. I know it outperforms the camaro, but it has the same image. Especially one with big turbos, NOS, and the all important 5 inch exhaust tip.
Before you go piping about how I'm some old guy who doesn't appreciate the performance of the supra, I'm 19. I don't own a BMW, but am considering buying one with my own money(cant afford E46 M3 though). I watch this board because I like the M3, and like talking cars. Even though I am young, I don't want to be associated with the whole boy racer that I know would come from owning a supra. Nor would I want to have the stereotype of a spoiled kid if I got a E46 M3(but could probably get over that one : )
