Well, my comments have absolutely nothing to do with you and your car on the track. It's just based on your biased description of the Supra and its amazing motor (which it truly is), why hasn't the car seen as much racing success here in the States than say the M3, the Viper, etc... Toyota does build the best engine performance-wise, but BMW upped them in LeMans b/c of their slower yet more efficient engine Anyway, the Supra is an awesome car and I did consider buying that over the M3 until I test drove both cars. I just came away with a better impression with the bimmer than the toyota. Wish I could've gotten both though. Perhaps I might get a used Supra once I start my residency for the drag strip, but I still prefer my M3 on the racetrack. Sad to see the demise of the Supra along with the other Japanese kings (sorry, I'll never be convinced of the Supra until I personally drive the other cars too which will be hard since Skylines, Imprezas, and Lancers are few and far between - not a big believer in numbers: lies, damned lies, and statistics). I do hope Toyota releases its 4000GT here in the states even though it'll be as ridiculously expensive as the Z8.
happy motoring

: : Well, based on your tidbit on the Supra, tell me why I don't see too many Toyotas at the pro-racing levels winning much less participating? The field tends to be dominated by Porsche 911's, Dodge Vipers, Mazda RX7's, Integra TypeR's, BMW M3/328, Corvettes, and Saleen Mustangs, yet a small presence if any of the mighty Supra. Shit, I think there's only one Toyota entry for the Speedvision World Challenge this year while old cars like the old MBenz 190e are still being raced. Why would professional racers pass up on a car if it's as great as you would claim? Sure it held its own in the Ring, but I see Saleen Mustangs and Vipers spanking the poor car elsewhere. Of course I could ask the same question about the lack of NSX's as well (although I'm starting to see the Lancer Evo jump the American stage at SCCA World Challenge and One Lap of America). King of Japan, perhaps, but surely not the world. Is the Supra stupid-fast? Yes. Is it faster than an M3? Probably. Are the pros running in droves for a car that's supposed to be king of the world? I dunno, but as far as I can tell, not in the US. Rebuttal?

: : : I dont seem to see alot of mention towards the king of japan, the 4th generation supra. I know alot of you guys now they are fast, but I dont think you really know how god awfully fast they can be with minimal amounts (or if you're crazy) huge amounts of money. 320hp 315lbs tq inline six twin sequential turbos 6 speed 0-60 4.8-5.3 1/4th 13.1-13.4 lateral G's on a skidpad .98 . The motor is capable of making sickening amounts of HP on a stock motor (camshafts being the only addition), so far the top "dawg" is making 851Rwhp which translates to over 1000hp @ flywheel on a stock bottom end. I know it isnt only about speed in a straight line, but for a road course this car is an animal. The car is discountinued , but there are alot of low mileage 98's that deserve a chance. The only other car I can think of is a GS300 or SC400 with a 2Jzgte motor swap from the supra and BPU (basic performance upgrade 400-430rwhp) the motor which would be a true performer.

: : : P.S. A supra out performs a skyline in every aspect, and the only thing a skyline has on a supra is AWD and alot of hype from people who havent driven it. Stock numbers say the supra abuses it.

: First off, Im not a PRO, so what does that have to do with ME taking MY car to the track?. Pro racing is basically Who has the most money, and thats why you see Saleens handling so well there.Never have I said the car was "King of the world" Im just comparing it to its japanese counterparts which it outperforms in TOTAL car performance. Oh, and those Supras that used to be on speedvision were barely running more than the average BPU car.
