Isn't the IS available with a 2.0L twin-turbo I4 with 280 PS and a 6-speed? I think I remember reading something along those lines... although it's highly unlikely that such a high-output I4 would make it to the U.S., it would certainly be good competition for the M3, chronograph style instrumentation and all. :) I know Toyota also has (ir will have shortyl) a 2.5L VVTLi V6 with 250 HP which is going into the Japanese market Altezza (the IS here). A shorter and lighter V6 instead of an I6 might improve the car's balance, but the performance wouldn't be near the M3's with a 100 less PS.
